The day was cool and breezy. Despite the weather forecast of showers in the mid-afternoon, the fluffy cottony white clouds in the sky seemed to suggest the opposite. Phoebe, Joey, Ross and Rachel had decided to meet at a fast-food restaurant near their homes. The foursome arranged to meet by the beach and walk to the restaurant together.
By two o’clock, Phoebe, Joey and Ross were already there. They were chatting when Rachel walked up to them. She was using her mobile phone to send a text message to her mother to inform her that she had arrived safely.
“Wow, Rach! You’ve got a new phone!” exclaimed Ross.
“Very stylish, eh? Looks expensive,” added Phoebe.
“Let me have a look at it,” said Joey, grabbing the mobile phone from Rachel’s hand. He scrolled through her list of text messages in her inbox.
“Hey, that’s private!” retorted Rachel and grabbed back her mobile phone. During the commotion, Phoebe saw a crab tangled in a fishing net. As soon as she untangled and released it, it moved quickly sideways.
The foursome sat down on the smooth sandy beach with arms around their knees. “Looks like a lot of plastic than fish” said Rachel. “These fishes may consume plastic trash and starve, mistakenly believing that they have eaten enough because their stomachs are full” added Ross.
“So this is bad news, not only for fish but also for humans who rely on fish for sustenance” told Phoebe.” I’m safe, I don’t eat any seafood!” retorted Joey. “Joey, the goat you ate yesterday could have gobbled some plastic ” teased Rachel. Rachel was rewarded with a adoring smile from Ross and a chuckle from Phoebe.
“So we are gonna volunteer beach clean-ups this weekend, aren’t we?” questioned Ross. “Yes! we are” screamed the others. The sun set and they walked towards the restaurant.
