“Progress is impossible without change , and those who cannot change their minds , cannot change anything.”
This quote is highly essential for our people! Because people say waste management is essential , but they themselves will not implement it.
India is the second densely populated country in the world , since the population is more , the waste generated by people is also more. There is a need for ‘waste management’ in our country , since waste causes a lot of problems. So it is high time to protect the posterity by tackling the climatic changes.
Currently , people are opting ‘use and throw’ materials. Since people are using ‘use and throw’ materials , the number of wastes accumulating is increasing rapidly day by day.
At weddings and parties , disposable plastic materials are used without giving a thought to the plastic waste being generated and it leads to the increase in landfills. Instead of using disposable plastic plates , normal plates can be used by the catering which can be washed and reused.
People of our country definitely have time to watch movies , roam over , etc , but they don’t have few minutes of their time for waste management.
Waste management , first should be started in each and every house of this country only then the waste management policy will be successful.
People always want their house to be clean , their surroundings to clean , so few people throw garbage in front of other’s house. Where is the waste management taken care ?
Many people throw waste into the drainage , which leads to the silt formation , thereby causing floods when there is heavy rainfall.
If people are residing in a building , they have to think that the house and surroundings must be clean in order to protect themselves , others and environment as well.
It is told by the government to segregate waste as dry waste , wet waste and sanitary waste. This segregation is told to made for the benefit of people and environment as well. Most of the people are not following this and they want the country to be free from all disasters. Everything should start from our home. Segregation of waste like this will help in protecting resources for the posterity. Dry waste includes plastics , cups , etc , which can be recycled . Wet waste includes vegetable waste , which can be used as a compost for growing plants and also it can be used for generating energy. Sanitary wastes will be disposed safely by the garbage workers as it is harmful. If there are so many advantages of waste segregation , people should definitely join hands to protect the environment.
The garbage workers who come to collect the garbage are also humans! this fact is definitely erased in peoples’ mind , that is the reason for them for not segregating waste, I believe. If the waste is segregated in a proper manner , even the job of garbage workers will be easier. If it is difficult for us to manage the waste of our house , think the plight of garbage workers who work everyday to manage waste.
Youth can also create awareness about waste management by doing street plays and make people understand about the benefits of waste management.
During these Corona days , a special troop is appointed to fine those who don’t wear mask. Likewise , a troop can be appointed to fine those who fail to manage the waste and those who throw the waste where ever they want. Then people will be successful in managing the waste.
Finally I would like to say,
“Be the change that we want”
