WASTE ( also known as rubbish, refuse, trash, garbage, junk, litter and ort) is unwanted or useless or discarded after the primary use. The volume of waste does not actually constitute the problem but the ability or inability of government, society especially individuals. There is no doubt that a dirty environment affects the standard of living, aesthetical quantity, health of the people and thus the quantity of their lives.
WASTE in our country is a very serious issue. India is the most populated country in the world. so naturally, we have the highest number of people living in our country. we produce the highest amount of waste.
Our environment or in other words our waste itself is a main factor that could affect our health. A person must wisely choose where to live, However in some circumstances there is no choice for people to decide. If we are living in a place where good hygiene is lacking, we all will get infections and diseases very easily. Our physical health will be very week.
THE IDEAL THINGS IS OUR WASTE IS OUR RESPONSIBILITY. Each one of us must be responsible for our own waste. At home we must manage our own waste, we must separate biodegradable waste from non biodegradable waste, we must Keep separate containers for dry and wet waste in the kitchen. And we should Send wet waste out of our home daily. Store and send dry waste out of the home, once a week. We must Keep a paper bag for throwing the sanitary waste. The cities and towns must have highly advanced waste treatment and receiving plants to preserve the beauty and purity of our environment.
SAY NO TO MIXED WASTE
FOR A CLEAN AND GREEN ENVIRONMENT.
First of all waste is generated by us. During our daily activities and by the industries that produces the products that we make use of to live. WASTE DISPOSAL IS AN IMPORTANT PART OF OUR DAILY LIVING. Collection and the daily disposal of home garbage are as important as having a Daily Bath.
SWATCHH BHARAT BIGINS AT HOME.
First of all we should keep our home clean, free of garbage and then it will keep our neighbourhood clean; and this can be extended to the ward, city, state and eventually the country. proper waste disposal is essential in every household. If every household is an apartment complex were follow this daily routine, the entire Housing Complex would be clean. Now imagine, all the housing complexes in and around the area doing this: what do we see? we don’t need a rocket science to visualise and understand this. Let’s extend our imagination further to the city, state and country and we have SWATCHH BHARAT.
WASTE MANAGEMENT is essential in today’s society. Due to an increase in population, the generation of waste is getting doubled day by day. Moreover, the increase in waste is affecting the lives of many people. For instance people living in slums are very close to the waste disposal area. Therefore they are prone to various diseases. Hence, putting their life in danger. In order to maintain a healthy life, proper hygiene and sanitation are necessary. Consequently, it is only possible with proper waste management.
The only way to battle this problem is by reducing the amount of waste that we produce. Start by composting our food waste or Garden waste instead of dumping it. If composting sounds like too much work, we can send our organic waste to a recycling facility instead of dumping it in the landfills.
The best way to practise waste management is
to form a group of like minded people. The process of waste segregation should be thoroughly explained to family/neighbours in our apartment building or neighbourhood. We can create awareness amongst the staff in the apartment building/neighbourhood to help make the process easier. Acquiring separate storage drums for storing the dry waste and wet waste will be a great way to store bulk waste. We can contact the local scrap dealer to collect the dry waste.
As citizens of a society we have a responsibility to manage our waste sustainably. We can do this -> Following the 5 R’s of waste management: Reduce reuse recycle, recover and residual management.
-> Recycling and Reusing of materials like plastic bags and paper bags is one way to reduce waste produced on the earth.
-> Alternative to plastic such as gunny bags, jute bags and paper bags should be widely used around the world.
-> Proper awareness and educational campaign should be conducted to make people aware of a safe waste disposal system.
Being such an irresponsible person or student who like to throw a rubbish everywhere, practice open burning and step on the grass that has been prohibited, it makes environment become worst day by day, As we reflect back, this is all because of our attitude itself. If we can change our attitude, I absolutely believe that we can also make a difference.
Furthermore, I would like to CONCLUDE that, what we have to bear in our mind is that, being a student is not just learning things in the class, but we also have to learn on how to manage our waste or nature or our respective land. Because we live in this world as a community and we are not alone. Thus, we should consider a certain things to make sure that all the people can live in peace without being disturbed by the others or by our attitude that can gives an impact to the society itself. In order to preserve and conserve the environment, we as a student practice an ENVIRONMENTAL – FRIENDLY LIFESTYLE.
Lastly, be a responsible citizen of a country. Reduce unnecessary consumption,Reuse what can be reused and Recycle what can be recycled. If everyone of us becomes aware of our social responsibility towards cleanliness, SWATCHH BHARAT will not be just a dream.
As citizens of the country, let us not just dream but put these thoughts to action.
OUR STRONG COMMITMENT AND PROACTIVENESS IS MOOT.
