My Home -My Responsibility
Segregation at Source
Segregation of the waste is necessary to ensure a healthy and clean environment. All of us are busy with our daily routines but now in these days if we get some free hour are we spending some time to clean our surroundings? We are using and throwing the waste on the road we walk or in a random place because it’s not our house. We must at least segregate the waste we throw so that we can grow in a healthy environment.
I heard that ‘If we can find a new planet for our home, then we can definitely restore our home planet ‘
Our Earth never fails to fascinate us with its beauty and existence. As we all know, our home planet is about 4.5 billion years old and has rich diversity within it. We are the only animals to have self-consciousness. This is the reason we are called social beings. We are evolved a long ago, and from that time on we are using our natural resources for our development and uses. As the population started increasing rapidly, to decrease the use of natural resources, scientists invented synthetic materials. The synthetic materials we use replace the naturally available materials in our day to day life. But they take too much time to be degraded in the soil. We are using them and throwing out. And then what is their fate? They are occupied on the roads. We are having different dustbins everywhere like plastic waste, food waste, E-waste. Plastic waste and E-waste are causing more problems these days. They take some years to degrade. The animals that roam on road are eating the plastic wastes we throw, the fishing net which is left in the oceans and the seas are killing many aquatic fishes. We are responsible for it. We should throw them in the respective bins and keep the surroundings clean. Plastic has a long life. Using it in road laying is already done. It was a good idea we should help them by separate the plastic waste at the source itself. We keep our house clean because we are living in it. In the same way, our Earth is sheltering us for a long back. We must keep it clean. Plastic can’t be degraded but can be recycled and we can reuse it. More than a of the plastic manufactured is thrown out in very little time. A lot of plastic wastes are not segregated so that it can be recycled. If we recycle and reuse plastic, we may reduce the plastic waste in our surroundings. Dumb yards are occupied with a lot of Plastic and E-waste. The Electronic wastes can be recycled instead of compressed and are grounded in layers in the soil. These are occupying large areas in our world. Electronic waste should be piled together at the source. Today’s education system should teach the students the value of the segregation of waste and should teach them not to simply throw the waste but to recycle and reuse it. It helps in decreasing the un-compiled garbage around us. We can see that there is a lot of plastic near the beaches that are thrown away. We are enjoying nature and its beauty, we should not destroy it. Our waste is our responsibility .we should throw them in the bins, not on the ground. This is damaging the ecosystem very badly. Aquatic-life is facing a serious threat only because of our negligence. And then the wastewater we release from our household and industries is directly released into the streams .they contain harmful chemicals and toxins. And those toxics are persistent and mobile. In many motor villages, the rivers and streams are the only sources for drinking. The wastewater must undergo sewage treatment before released into the water channels. The wastewater contains more toxic chemicals. If the treatment is not done, the fishes, other aquatic animals that live in the water channels may get occupied with the toxics. We are again the one who eats them. Finally, we distribute the toxics among us leading to different health problems. The water we drink and the food we eat will be good for health when they are grown in a clean environment. So let’s be sure that the water treatment is done before the water is released into the water channels. Then the household wastes like vegetable waste, Fabric waste, sanitary waste should not be thrown on the roads or around us. Vegetable waste can be used as natural manure for our plants instead of throwing on roads. And it can reduce the usage of agro-chemicals like pesticides, herbicides, and so on which lead to soil infertility. Sanitary waste like sanitary napkins should be cleaned wrapped and properly thrown or should be disposed of. The municipal workers collect the waste and throw it at dumb yards or beside the water channels. It is very unhealthy so better they are disposed of at the source itself. Separating the wastes we throw helps the accumulation and it would be easy to process them further. It also helps the Environment restore itself. It stops many animal deaths due to waste accumulation.
Let’s keep our home clean
By separating our waste when we throw them
Thank You
