Responsibility’, the definition of responsibility is a state of being required as part of a job or legal obligation but the real meaning of responsibility is more than this definition. ‘Responsibility should not be limited to house only it should be towards each person of the country. On top of it, responsibility towards the country should be the first priority.
Ever since the beginning of civilization, history is replete with records of sin committed by man. We all know that the progress and prosperity of each country depend upon the percentage of ideal citizens that inhabit in it.
My waste my responsibility means dumping of wastes in proper waste management is our first and foremost responsibility. Nowadays people have become so reckless and irresponsible that they throw waste in their neighbor’s yard so that their yard doesn’t get filthy. Not just this, people living in flats and societies throw their waste from the balcony irrespective of how others will face problems. In many societies, people throw waste from their balcony and create a mess. That’s so ashamed of them as with this type of attitude they are not just creating a mess but also creating a bad impression on others.
In some places like parks, beaches, etc. people litter the ground. Many people have the habit of eating plastic wrapper products and instead of throwing it in a dustbin, they throw it on road, drains. We should realize that our one mistake can take someone’s life. What if some stray animal for instance cow ate that plastic wrapper and it gets chock in the neck, it will lead to sure shot death of that animal. In India cow is worshiped and what as a human we are doing killing them. This needs to be stopped. Furthermore, it creates problems in the drainage system as the plastic sometimes gets stuck in the drainage system and created problems. As we know plastic is non-biodegradable, so it doesn’t get decompose completely even after a thousand years. This not only creates problems but also affects the fertility of the soil and makes the soil less fertile. Now, whose fault is this? None other than we ‘humans’. Moreover the waste we throw on the road, river, etc create a problem for ourselves only. People who live near Ghats have the habit of dumping their entire household waste into the water which later makes the water toxic and by mistake, if it comes in contact with a small child, it will severely affect on their health. When water gets toxic the aquatic animals also get affected. Furthermore, the plastics which we throw will reach the ocean through the various sources and will get disintegrated into micro-plastics, due to strong ocean currents and at last, it will enter in our stomach itself through the food we eat and water we drink.
In 2014, our honorable Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi took an initiative and launched a program called “Swachh Bharat Mission”. When this program was launched everyone was so determined to clean up India but as the days passed people forgot about the program, they were back to their daily routine. It doesn’t mean that nobody followed. Many followed the program judiciously but some of them quit. This purely shows a lack of sincerity. We should be determined towards our initiative.
We are steadily encroaching on deserts, forests, lakes, rivers, etc. On research, we found that people are creating a mess in the desert also. Pieces of plastics, wrappers, etc, were found. We as human beings have no idea about the aftereffect of this dumping of waste. After dumping of waste with the flow of wind the filth, dust travels many nautical miles and creates problems. It will harm the ecosystem and all the living beings. We need to be responsible. That responsibility is our attitude which comes from our insight. It’s a request whatever the waste either it’s on the beaches, in the mountains, deserts, parks, or anywhere. Never throw the waste carelessly. If we can’t find proper waste disposal then we must bring back it with us and then dispose of it. We must separate biodegradable garbage from non-biodegradable garbage. There are ways by which we can dispose of our household waste. One of the convenient ways is to decompose the kitchen waste and make a profit out of it by making manure for plants. It will enrich the fertility of the soil and in this manner, waste will also get used for a good cause.
It is a crime to interfere with nature because no one has the right to destroy this beautiful universe and make it barren for the coming generations. India comes under the most populated country in the world, so it is obvious that we have the highest number of people living in our country. It is more shocking to know that there is no proper garbage management policy. Then how do we rescue our environment from the hazards of an industrial society? There is no clear-cut answer but we can do this if we all be together and take an oath not to throw waste here and there. It is the responsibility of every citizen of the world to preserve the environment and keep it safe from destruction.
At the end of the day, it is our country, our pride and we should always keep it clean and we can do this by becoming an ideal citizen because an ideal citizen is the one who understands that my waste is my responsibility. It is truly said that it’s not someone else’s responsibility to pick up our litter, it’s our responsibility. Hence let us take an initiative to be responsible for our garbage and together make India clean and green.
