Due to the impacts of environmental pollution people have been more cautious on waste disposal . Wastes are of many types such as solid wastes , liquid wastes, organic wastes etc….
Waste management involves processes of collection , transportation and disposal of wastes . Depending upon the different types of wastes their management also differs . The activities which are involved in disposing the wastes is what is called as waste management . Generation of wastes is almost involved in every activity , however a certain amount of waste is even generated from our houses everyday , but how we dispose it is what really matters . It should be disposed in a way which causes no harm to the living beings on earth and the nature around us . The nature acts as a shield around us , so it is our duty to see to that there is no harm caused to the mother nature and mother earth. Today there are many new technologies and techniques which are available to dispose the wastes more effectively without causing any kind of harm to the environment .
MY WASTE MY RESPONSIBILITY , is the mantra for NO DUMPING . It was adopted by a non profit organisation that aims at having cities without dump sites . The organisation has been working in the field of waste management since January 2016 . From waste collection to segregation, to processing and safe disposal of wastes , the NGO not only handles waste efficiently , but it also makes weddings and parties go waste free .
This organisation sets an example and makes it clear to all of us that our waste is our responsibility . We stand responsible for it and we need to take initiative in managing it properly . We should take this step of being responsible for our wastes right from our houses. To change anything in world or to bring about any changes in the society we first need to implement it in our houses because any good deed should start from our house , we should have the potential to change our houses . If everyone gets awareness regarding this and starts to implement waste management right from their houses then one day this world would become pollution free .
Environmental pollution is a major public health issue that can be prevented by waste management . Waste management begins from the point of collection . It is necessary to segregate the wastes from the point of collection so that the process becomes more easier . The next step is to transport the wastes . Disposal of wastes is the final step in waste management where incineration , burying or recycling of wastes is done .
Recently in Coimbatore MAK company in India has developed MAK green incinerator and is installing it for solid waste management in cities . The incinerator , which works on vaporisation and incineration technologies , segregates municipal solid waste . It processes biodegradable and non-biodegradable wastes seperately to ensure that zero waste is generated from the process . The biodegradable waste is converted into organic manure and non-biodegradable waste is processed to generate cement like ash and granulated carbon . The steam generated can be recovered and reused . The ash is made into pavement blocks and granulated carbon has several applications .
The entire process is pollution free , the chief scientist of the company claimed . The average cost to instal a plant to treat the non-biodegradable waste works out to rupees four lakh for a tonne of waste and the minimum land required is one acre (for ten tonnes of waste) . The company installs , operates and maintains the plants and is looking at long-term agreements with civic bodies . According to the founder of the company , the company is looking at solution for every pollution . We need to take care of our wastes and dispose it in a proper way . If not this would lead as a big threat for the future . Creation of waste is done in large quantities everyday so we need to take a step to dispose it in the same proportion as it is created . We need to take up the responsibility for our wastes as the mantra goes My waste My responsibility and see to that our wastes everyday in our houses is disposed off properly . We have to take this little step of starting in our houses .We need to create awareness regarding this to illiterates , all children and ask them to not throw any wastes on the road , to avoid using plastic , to segregate their wastes in their house as biodegradable and non- biodegradable etc..we need to give them the awareness of the consequences that the society would face in near future if the do not stand responsible for their wastes . Waste management is something which is very important today that need to be discussed and worked on . Managing the waste is something which has become a very big challenge these days . ” If there is a will , there is a way. ” So let us join our hands together and make this world a better place to live in .
