Introduction :-
In today’s world we all are facing many problems like pollution, lack of water, diseases etc. one of the biggest problem is waste materials. We all know that the population of world is increasing, the generation of waste is also increasing with it day by day. And these waste also affects many lifes on earth. Earth is our home and many species are living on it. For reducing waste materials we should know about waste management. Every individual should aware about it because our waste, our responsibility. Waste can be reuse and recycle.People don’t worry about their waste and it’s harmful results. It’s very important to manage waste. Basically waste is divided into two groups biodegradable waste and non biodegradable waste.
Every individual should know about segregation of waste. Segregation of waste means separate biodegradable waste from non biodegradable waste by this process waste can be decomposed properly. The simplest way everyone can contribute as an individual is having two dustbins at home. One for biodegradable waste and another for non biodegradable waste. Only we can reduced waste materials by waste management.
My waste, My responsibility :-
Every individual should know that where they are sending waste and should ensure their waste contract to collect and manage the waste. They should know that every process of managing waste is legal disposal and recycling sites. Their are many types of waste such as –
• liquid waste
• solid waste
• organic waste
• recyclable waste
• hazardous waste.
In India Central pollution control board released in report in 2009 indicates that 62 million tons of solid waste is produced in our country every year of which less than 20% or only 12 million tons are treated. And nearly 20% of methane gas emissions in India is caused by landfills. In financial year 2019 the state of Maharashtra in India produced more than 23 thousands tons of solid waste per day which was maximum amount generated by any state in country.
Every individual should understand about different types of waste management. There are eight major categories of waste management including recycling, composting, landfilling, fermentation, incineration and land sewage treatment etc.
People should know about some simple waste management in which people shouldn’t throw away wastes after only one time use. There are many trees can be saved if we properly make use of left over paper and used notebooks. We can also enrich the soil by filling it with biodegradable waste only , these can make environment pollution less. Every individual should know about harmful results or impact of waste. Waste gives very harmful affects. Some of waste will eventually rot but not all. Waste can generate methane gas which is explosive and contributes to the greenhouse effect.
We should know about • reduce solid and • reuse solid.
Reduce soild means using less paper and plastic carry bags.
Reuse solid means making useful things from waste materials.
India government has also worked on waste management. Government is providing households waste collection and recycling services. Government also organise some awareness programs or education about waste management. But managing the waste is not just responsibility for government it is a big responsibility for everyone.
You can follow some duties towards protection of earth.
✓ If you are a student –
• you should aware about simple process of waste management
• you should not throw paper, you can reuse it.
• should sure about having two dustbins and their uses.
✓ If you are a woman –
• should know about primary responsibilities towards protection of earth.
• should aware their family towards waste management.
• can get information about domestic waste and its reuse.
Here are some duties or simple rules every individual can follow and do waste management.
• avoid using tissue paper and should use own nepkin.
• can get information about waste, its harmful effects and management by many awareness programs organised by government.
• should encourage other people for waste management.
• don’t throw chocolate, ice cream, biscuits etc. wrappers on road or open space.
Only we humans being can save the earth from waste. We should understand our responsibility and duties towards waste management. Because MY WASTE,MY RESPONSIBILITY.
