Plastic, Plastic and Plastic every one of us do have heard of this mnemonic word, for some with its meaning and some its consequences and some with its effects to the society. To start with plastics introduction, it is typically an organic polymer of high molecular mass discovered by Alexander Parked in the form of Parkesine, which was said to be the first kind of man-made plastic. But The world’s first fully synthetic plastic was bakelite, invented in New York by Leo Baekeland who coined the term “plastics”.
At its beginning it was the best productive material anyone could offer and were willing to afford.Later on as the knowledge about its atrociousness spread over the states and countries this material became whimsical in nature. Some felt it libel and some where apprehensive about it. And there were some who became hypothetical users of that material. They started creating such amusements out of this mutilating item.
Today, more than sixty percent of plastic’s recycling happen in India of which seventy percent are recycled at registered facilities, twenty percent by unorganized sectors, and ten percent at home. India recycles thirty-eight percent more plastics than the global average of twenty percent. As an alternative petrol based plastic carry bags are introduced at the market which are one hundred percent biodegradable.
We all have heard and acknowledged the great achievement attained by our ISRO i.e, Indian Space Research Organisation of the Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM). In this mission the team of ISRO structured the satellite with an aluminium and composite fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP). They used all the plastics that could devastate our country and its beings. It was an ecstasy for all the countrymen. This mission became one of the best examples of the saying “Haste out of Waste”. And slso this taught many of us how to make a useful utilisation of plastics for a productive cause.
There is and are still many more examples of such useful usage of the deadly plastic. But the bitter truth is that there are still many people showing slipshod about plastics. Until and unless the floccinaucinihilipilification about anti-plastic stops it keeps becoming extravagantly abominable. There are rules such as Solid Waste Management Rules, 2016 and Plastic Waste Management Rules, 2016 with many committees and campaigns trying their best to reduce the harmfulness of plastics in the country and the world. And we as a patriotic countrymen should also show our patriotism through helping these committees and participating in the campaigns with the smallest way possible.
Therefore, plastic is just a material until and unless we subjugate it. Once we reduce subjugating plastics it no more remains a productive material but a life taking virus. We humans are high level creative beings living on earth. And if we wish to use our creativity for these developmental causes and holistic development of self and others , one day our country, our world would be a celestial planet.
