Wastes are materials that can be recycled on a regular basis. But because of our ignorance, a lot of waste gets dumped in landfills and pollution hits the planet finally. Only if we start creating awareness and take self responsibility we can clean our environment. The simplest way to solve this problem is through practicing proper on-site segregation of waste. Waste segregation is mostly the separation of waste into different categories. Mostly, wet and dry waste. People use dustbins but very rarely are the waste segregated. They are commonly dumped in single bin, which leads to difficulty in sorting the wastes and treating it in future. A properly segregated waste turns out to be easier in recycling and treatment biologically or chemically. It makes the work of the authorities concerned less cumbersome and also cheap. Mixed waste makes it difficult for sorting and increases the chances of hazards for the cleaning authorities. There is a lot of manual labor involved in case of cleaning. Therefore, segregation of waste from the source saves a lot of money and makes the task easier. It also helps in recycling of wastes in generation of revenue attached to it. If 100% source segregation is achieved then 80% of it can be recycled. We should try to segregate wastes and help in lessening the pollution level in our environment.
